Venue

The workshop will be held at conference no. 2 in the Building for Humanities and Social Science, Academia Sinica. Academia Sinica is located at 128 Academia Road, Section 2, Nankang, Taipei 115, Taiwan.

Transportation

There are several ways you can get from the Taoyuan International Airport to Academia Sinica, depending on how much time and money you wish to spend.

By Bus

• (recommended) From the airport, you can take any bus whose destination is Taipei City. After arriving at Taipei City, you then take a taxi to Academia Sinica. The bus fare is about NT$ 135, and the ride takes about 45 min. The taxi fare ranges from NT$ 250 to NT$ 400, depending on where you get off the bus, and takes another 30-45 min. depending on traffic condition.

Specifically, you board the Evergreen bus line (operated by the EVA airline) whose buses stop at both terminal 1 and 2. The bus leaves for Taipei every 15 - 20 minutes from 6:00 am to 00:30 am. When in Taipei City, you get off at bus stop no. 8 (MRT Zhongxiao Fuxing Station). This is the nearest stop to Academia Sinica (see the map of the bus route in Taipei City). Then take a taxi to Academia Sinica.

Note: Print out this PDF file takemetothesinica.pdf and show it to the taxi driver. It gives out direction, in Chinese, for getting to the Academic Activities Center, Academia Sinica, which is the place for on-campus accommondation and where the workshop venue is near-by. This is very handy if you don't speak Mandarin/Taiwanese and the driver cannot speak English.

• (more economical) When in Taipei City you can take the MRT (the subway system) blue line and get off at the last stop (Kunyang). Then you take a taxi from there to Academia Sinica. The taxi shall cost about NT$ 120 and takes about 15 min. Specifically, you board the same Evergreen bus line above at the airport and get off at bus stop no. 8 (MRT Zhongxiao Fuxing Station) which is right in front of the entry to MRT blue line. You take the blue line to Kunyang station, then take a taxi to Academia Sinica. Note: You still need the PDF file takemetothesinica.pdf which gives out direction in Chinese for the taxi ride.

By Taxi

From the airport, take a taxi directly to Academia Sinica. This shall cost you about NT$ 2,000 and it takes about 45 min. Note: You need this PDF file takemetothesinica.pdf which gives out direction in Chinese for the taxi ride.

By High Speed Rail

This shall be fun, but I have not tried it myself. Anyway, you can take a bus from the airport to the Taoyuan station of Taiwan High Speed Rail (HSR). You then take a HSR train from Taoyuan station to Taipei station. It costs NT$ 160 and takes only 22 min. The HSR train runs from 7:40 am to 23:00 pm. Once at the HSR Taipei station, you can either take a taxi to Academia Sinica, or take the MRT blue line to Kunyang station then a taxi to Academia Sinica. The workshop venue is at building no. 24 in the following Academia Sinica campus map. The accommodation is at building no. 20. Locations of the dinner and concert

The dinner at January 19 evening is at Leader Hotel (no. 83, Roosevelt Road, Section 4). The convert is at Riverside Café (Basement, no. 2, Lane 244, Roosevelt Road, Section 3). Both are within walking distance of MRT Gongguan station. There will be a bus taking people from Academia Sinica to the dinner, and taking people from the concert back to Academia Sinica.
